Sandra Niziolek

I am 33 years old and live in Berlin. I study game design at Games Academy and love to develop video games, focusing on game design and digital art. I discovered my passion for game development in 2017, when I started with some personal projects. I am highly motivated and want to create video games with USPs. My goal is to turn my passion into my profession.

Bunny Hop

Easy concept but a lot of fun! Just draw a line and let your chosen Jumper bounce. But don’t call it easy! Here comes the tricky part. Avoid obstacles, traps and enemies. You will have a hard time, but addiction warranted.

The Voice Inside

The Voice Inside is an atmospheric exploration adventure game with horror and puzzle elements as well as challenging control mechanics. Use the voice control, or an unconventional controller and keyboard input to give the right commands to move a creature freely through a dark & abstract world.

Klick:Forensik is a serious game on the theme „Fewer Candles on the Graves!“ – Design of a blended learning concept for identifying unnatural causes of death. In this point-and-click game, you must find all the crucial evidences and coose, whether it is a natural cause of death or not by answering questions.

FoFaBe

FoFaBe is a serious game, in which the player investigates an accident site for clues. After gathering evidence, they undergo various forensic analysis processes, leading up to a presentation in court. The game features a simple low-poly style, creating the impression of an architectural model aesthetic.

Gears of Mitra

Gears of Mitra is a linear 3D parkour game, which invites the player to manipulate the time and therefore his environment by his own movement speed to overcome deadly traps and obstacles.

The humanoid character, as a time manipulator, has the ability, to slow down the time by his own movement speed. Fast paced movements, such as run and dash, let him manipulate the time in relation to his movements. The character can use it to survive several deadly traps. He needs to plan each movement carefully and choose between walk, run, slide, dash, (double) jump and more.

Note: All 3D art assets and textures are made by the group´s artists, (the title logo and UI art was designed by me)

Chess Redesign

This is a chess redesign, which I developed with a group of four students. The goal was to redesign classic chess into a simplified child-friendly version with new mechanics.

Portal Project

To learn how to use Git and Fork, we, as a small group of GA students, built a small test project, with a super simple port mechanic. The outcome is a short portal dasher game.

Parah & Syte (Spoopy Jam)

„Parah & Syte“ is a 2D side-scrolling couch co-op game for 1-2 players with a twisted blend of horror and humor. You play as Parah and Syte, two mischievous parasites, who have taken control of an unsuspecting cat in a high-security parasitology lab. The goal? Guide your new feline host to freedom and escape the lab.
To escape, you’ll use your parasitic powers to trigger mutations, shifting the cat’s form to adapt to every new hurdle.

This game was developed by the PyJAMer Party, a group of students of the Games Academy, as a submission for the 2.5 days spoopy game jam 2024!

Crab Island

Crab Island is my first 2D micro platformer that I have created during a three-day game design trial course run by Games Academy Berlin. I was supposed to learn how to use the Unity Engine without any coding (by redesigning a demo platformer and using a tile palette) with the focus on level design.
Note: I used third party art assets.
